<p>We will take you through our journey to improve Search results relevance in the biggest C2C e-commerce marketplace in Japan through the application of Machine Learning (i.e.: Learning-to-Rank).</p><p>This talk will focus on the machine learning side of this journey (with a separate one focusing on the MLOps part). In particular, we will discuss the following topics:</p><ul><li><p>Short introduction to search using ElasticSearch and the idea of reranking</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Data acquisition, cleanup, preparation and labeling</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Development of model</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Our learnings and key takeaways</p></li></ul><p>During all the steps, we have used open source tools for the development and deployment.</p>
