Relational databases such as PGSQL, which have strong query capabilities and provide ACID constraints, are widely adopted by customers, the ability to scale horizontally, ability to provide minimal latency and high availability, ability to provide global distribution, ability to have data consistent across replicas and shards become interesting problems to solve. These are particularly relevant in todays’ data intensive modern planet scale applications. This session will showcase an open source engine namely Citus, which provides distributed SQL / sharding capability for PGSQL. We will discuss the internal architecture, capabilities, and use cases in building multi-tenanted SaaS Apps on Postgres.
